Furnished means actually furnished

Plenty of Lisbon listings described as furnished turn out to be a bed frame and a wardrobe. Ours are not. Each room has a proper bed, a desk you can work at, storage for a full wardrobe and bedding on arrival. The shared kitchen has pans, plates, a kettle and everything else you would otherwise spend a first weekend buying, and the living room has somewhere to sit that is not your bed.

One price, the bills inside it

Water, electricity, gas and high-speed wifi are included in the monthly figure. That matters more in Portugal than people expect: setting up utilities as a foreigner usually means a tax number, a local bank account and a phone call in Portuguese. We have already done it, so the number you are quoted is the number that leaves your account.

No furniture, no lock-in, no guarantor

The ordinary rental market here wants a twelve-month lease, a Portuguese guarantor and several months of deposit up front, and then hands you an empty flat. We ask for none of that. Book online from wherever you are, stay for a semester or for years, and leave without having to sell a sofa.
