A Lisbon street

The neighbourhood

Living in Alvalade

It was laid out in the 1940s as a model residential quarter and still works exactly as intended. Each block has its bakery and its dry cleaner, the avenues are lined with trees, and the Avenida da Igreja is the kind of high street where people know the shopkeepers.

For students it is a short hop to Católica and the Cidade Universitária campus at Campo Grande, and the green line runs straight down into the centre in about twelve minutes. For anyone who has had enough of sleeping above a bar, it is the obvious move.

It is also the best-value part of the city we operate in that still puts you inside the metro network rather than out on a bus route.
