How the city breaks down

Lisbon is small enough that no neighbourhood is far from another, but the difference between a ten-minute walk to campus and a forty-minute commute is the difference between two very different years. Our inventory is concentrated where students and young professionals actually need to be.

Alameda is the largest cluster by some distance, because Instituto Superior Técnico sits in it. Saldanha and Marquês de Pombal follow: the business districts, where professionals and master’s students want to be. The riverside neighbourhoods, Santos and Cais do Sodré, are smaller and go quickest.

FAQ

Choosing a neighbourhood

Which Lisbon neighbourhood is best for students?
Alameda and Arroios if you are at Instituto Superior Técnico, both are a 10–15 minute walk from campus. Saldanha, Campo Pequeno and Alvalade suit ISCTE and Católica. Santos and Cais do Sodré are closest to ISEG.
Which is the cheapest neighbourhood for a room in Lisbon?
Alto dos Moinhos has our lowest price floor, followed by Alameda. Both are on the metro with a direct ride into the centre, so the saving does not cost you a long commute.
How do I choose between neighbourhoods?
Start from what you are commuting to, then pick for character. Each of our guides lists the metro lines, the walk times to nearby campuses and the rooms we currently have in that area.
