The neighbourhood

Living in Cais do Sodré

As a place to live it is unbeatable for connections. The station puts the green line, the Cascais coastal train and the Cacilhas ferry in one building, which means the beach is half an hour away and the whole centre is two stops.

The neighbourhood itself has changed fast. Rua Nova do Carvalho, Pink Street, is still the loudest strip in the city at 2am, but the streets behind it are full of small restaurants and wine bars that are more about dinner than dancing.

It suits people who want the city at full volume and do not mind the noise that comes with it. If you would rather have the river without the crowd, look at Santos next door.
